2/4/06- Tyler Update #2
Tyler improved today. He was more alert than yesterday, but still just in and out of it. He was able to say, "I need to go to the bathroom", "yes", "ball", and "Daddy" today. Dana and I spent a lot of time with him in his bed reading books and we are constantly channel surfing looking for home improvement shows. We are concerned about his weight right now as he has not eaten in 48 hours. He is having difficulties swallowing. We tried to give him a drink and he just can't take it through a straw or even put in his mouth as it will drool out. The hope is once he starts his treatment and with the continued progress of the steroids he is currently on that he will regain the ability to chew and swallow. His little arm is pretty bruised up. He has been "picked" 5 times for an IV. They finally found a good spot at his wrist.

Dana, Tyler, and I want everyone to know we really do feel your prayers here in Memphis. Dana and I took turns today going to the computer lab to read the blog. It is very comforting to receive the well-wishes of so many. To our family and friends in Charlotte who have been supporting our Chase, Bryce, and Aidan we cannot express "thank you" in words.

You all have been in my thoughts and prayers since last Sunday. I continue to pray that Tyler will have wonderful success with his treatment and return to Charlotte a strong and healthy boy.
Please tell Tyler that he will be missed in Sunday School and to expect Valentine well wishes from his classmates real soon.
I will give Adian a few extra hugs when I see him at the pool.

Dear Howard and Dana: I learned about Tyler through Julie Crenshaw, who forwarded me an email that I received this morning. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers and that you'll be remembered in our family prayers nightly. I will also add your intentions to the prayer lists at church, our preschool and the Moms in Touch prayer group through our elementary school. God won't be able to help but notice that Tyler is being lifted up in prayer everywhere!

Chocolate chip pancakes and good quotes usually help me to feel better. They usually work better when i have just gotten a bad grade on a test or something unimportant, but i have found they give hope in real tough situations as well. I know tyler can't eat right now (which is a bummer because chocolate chip pancakes are probably the best food ever, aside from maybe strawberrys), so i thought i would send you guys a quote that has been helping me stay atleast somewhat strong.
